The Advantages of Using Type 2 Liquid Brine

With another winter storm on the way, Middlesex Ice Control is gearing up to supply our customers with our liquid and granular ice melt. With tomorrow’s storm expected to bring sleet and icing, we wanted to explain why our type 2 liquid brine is superior to type 1. There are several advantages to using type 2 treated brine. These include everything from saving you money and labor as well as it having superior ice melting capacity. We have three types of liquid brine, Magic – 0, ProMelt Ultra 1000, and ProMelt Ultra 2000. Read on to learn the advantages of using type 2 liquid brine.

The Advantages of Using Type 2 Liquid Brine

Our Type 2 Liquids are much less corrosive than other types of liquid brine.
Many types of liquid brine contain corrosive properties that can damage your application equipment and cause it to rust. When using Magic – 0, you don’t have to worry because it has the corrosion value of distilled water. Those who use equipment such as Snowrator or Ventrac will find peace of mind when ending their long day of spreading by not having to spend a lot of time rinsing the equipment after. Magic – 0 also meets the very stringent requirements of the Pacific Northwest Snowfighters for corrosion rates.

Type 2 liquids have superior ice melting capacity.
Magic – 0 delivers some of the best performance in colder environments. It works at temperatures as low as – 49 F. Our other brine, ProMelt Ultra 1000 works at temperatures as low as – 85 F. Because of this, using our liquid brine is much more effective than rock salt or type one liquids.

Type 2 liquid brine is more economical.
Using ProMelt Magic – 0 can save labor, fuel, and materials. The reason for this is that it reduces the bounce and scatter rate of granular ice melt. If the granular ice melt is allowed to bounce and scatter, it is less likely to be able to effectively melt the ice. This results in two other problems, number one being that you will have to respread more material to get it to work. Number two is that you will need more manpower to respread the material. Save yourself time and money and use our type 2 liquid brines first.

Our liquid bring is better for you, the environment, and pets.
ProMelt Ultra 1000 is approved for organic production and is used as a crop fertilizer in the US and Canada. Magic – 0 is also environmentally friendly. It meets the Pacific Northwest Snowfighters standards for toxicity. The strong residual effects and outlasting performance of Magic – 0 also reduces chlorine brine runoff which is another reason that it is more environmentally friendly than other liquid ice melt. In terms of being plant-friendly, the reduced application rate of the chloride is actually less damaging than lower-quality ice melt applications. Magic – 0 is safer for pets because it is less corrosive than other liquid brine. It is less likely to irritate the sensitive skin on paws.
